In the heart of Europe, where ancient oak trees whisper and rivers flow slowly toward the sea, a legend was born — the legend of three brothers: L**h, Czech, and Rus.

Upon seeing a white eagle in its nest against a crimson sky, L**h declared: “Here we shall stay!” And thus, Gniezno, the first capital of Poland, was founded.

In the year 966, Mieszko I, Duke of Poland, was baptized. With this historic act, Poland embraced Christianity and entered the circle of Western civilization.

From the darkness of the Middle Ages emerged a song that would lead knights into battle for centuries — Bogurodzica, the oldest known Polish hymn, a prayer for courage, faith, and victory.

Jest takie miejsce u zbiegu dróg,
Gdzie się spotyka z zachodem wschód...
Nasz pępek świata,
Nasz biedny raj...
Jest takie miejsce,
Taki kraj.

The Polonaise in D Minor (Polonez d-moll) invites us to reflect on Poland’s rich cultural heritage and enduring journey toward liberty. The Polonaise reflects the spirit of the Polish nation — proud, elegant, and resilient. The Polonaise, one of Poland’s most treasured national dances, has long symbolized honor, unity, and the enduring pursuit of freedom.
Through its noble rhythm and expressive character, this music carries both the memory of Poland’s history and the strength of its national identity.

This year’s Great Constitutional Concert, entrusted by the Chicago Chopin Foundation to the Whispers Center for Artistic Expression, brought the community together through music, history, dance, and storytelling.

Inspired by the parade theme, “Freedom Knows No Borders – One Spirit, Two Nations,” the performance “Polish Paths – From Legend to Freedom” took audiences on a journey through the history and spirit of Poland.

A heartfelt thank you to all collaborating organizations, artists, volunteers, and to all photographers who shared their beautiful work and helped preserve these unforgettable moments. ❤️

Together we celebrated heritage, unity, and freedom.
