Theory is nice, but physical paint doesn’t care about a perfect color wheel! To truly understand color theory, you have to learn how physical pigments interact on a palette.

Taylor just moved from our greyscale curriculum into her first major color assignment—matching complex swatches by breaking down color into a repeatable process:

- Finding the closest base

- Adjusting value

- Tuning the chroma

- Balancing the color temperature

Huge shoutout to Sam! 🎈 Finishing the color block is no small feat, and she nailed it.

This blue balloon dog is a tricky exercise that requires precise value control to make those rounded forms really "pop." Sam has shown exactly the kind of focus and persistence it takes to become a great artist.
