Big idea: Jonah's storm showed the consequences of disobedience, but Jesus is the One who has authority over the storm.
Today we learned about Jonah and the storm. Jonah ran from God, and a terrible storm came.
But hundreds of years later, Jesus stepped into a boat with His disciples—and when a storm came, Jesus simply said, “Peace,” and the storm stopped.
Jonah couldn't control the storm.
Jesus could.
Jonah needed to be rescued.
Jesus is our Rescuer.

That's the gospel connection we want our kids to see: the Bible isn't just full of stories about people trying to be better.

It's the story of a God who comes to rescue people who can't save themselves.

Tomorrow we're continuing our journey through Jonah!
Jonah thought he could run from God—but God had other plans.
We'll learn more about Jonah's storm and what it teaches us about God's power, mercy, and our need for Him.

Parents, you don't need a 30-minute family Bible study to talk about Jesus with your kids.
Sometimes it only takes 5 minutes.
Tonight, ask:
“Is there ever a time you don't want to obey God?”
Listen to their answer. Then remind them that God doesn't ask us to hide when we mess up. Because of Jesus, we can always come back to Him.

On Sunday we started our journey through the story of Jonah!
Jonah was called by God to go to Nineveh, but instead of obeying, Jonah ran in the opposite direction.
But here's the beautiful thing about Jonah's story: even when Jonah ran from God, God didn't stop pursuing him.
And that's true for us, too.
We don't obey God perfectly. We mess up. We run. We try to do things our own way.
But God is merciful, and He doesn't stop loving us.

A little behind the scenes of EC Kids!
Every Sunday, volunteers spend time preparing, praying, learning, and creating a place where kids can hear about Jesus.
What happens in these rooms matters.
We're not just keeping kids busy on Sunday mornings.
We're helping kids know Jesus and live faithfully.

CIA Kids!!! It's time for our first project of the school year! Stay after church for pizza and working on the playground on September 6th. We get to work with the youth kids too!
