The purpose of Lacemakers Guild of Oklahoma (LGO) is to promote, study, and foster a public interest and appreciation of all aspects of the art of lace and lace making. Since 1992 we have promoted lace making through monthly meetings, educational programs, demonstrations, and instruction. We are a nonprofit, chartered member of I.O.L.I., the International Organization of Lace, Inc. (formerly International Old Lacers, Inc.) - whose goals are to make lace, study antique lace, and collect old lace.

Ñanduti lace is unique to the South American country of Paraguay. Introduced by Spanish colonizers, it was transformed by Indigenous Guarani women into a beautiful means of self expression. The word itself, ñanduti, means 'spider web' in Guarani.
Technically related to Tenerife lace, ñanduti is made with a needle, and is characterized by its round, medallion-shaped motifs.
National Ñanduti Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in October, especially in the city of Itaugua. Women wear traditional clothing decorated with the lace, and workshops and competitions are held.
Itaugua is profoundly connected to ñanduti. After a devastating war that lasted from 1864 to 1870, in which half of Paraguay's population died, it's said that only one lace maker survived. She quickly resumed making ñanduti, and taught other Itaugua women how to do so, ensuring that the skill survived to this day.
