In observance of Juneteenth, Barstow Community College will be closed on Thursday, June 18th. Campus will reopen for regular business hours on Monday, June 22nd, at 7am.

Barstow Community College has officially closed escrow on the purchase of the former Rite Aid building at the corner of Rimrock Road and Barstow Road, the future home of BCC's CTE workforce training center.

This decision is years in the making. Rather than build a new 4,000 sq. ft. facility at an estimated cost of $4.6 million, the Board of Trustees recognized an extraordinary opportunity: more than four times the space at roughly half the cost, using funds already designated for college facilities. No new taxes. No new debt.

The Center will become a training hub preparing local residents for high-wage careers such as robotics, automation, cybersecurity, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. Five hands-on training labs. Programs completable in as little as 6 to 12 months. Wages ranging from $23 to over $60 per hour.

The timing could not be better. The $1.5 billion BNSF Barstow International Gateway project, expanding operations at Fort Irwin and Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, and growing clean energy investments across the High Desert are bringing thousands of jobs to our region. BCC is making sure the people of Barstow are first in line for them.

The work ahead is exciting, and it starts now.
