🏗 UPDATE FROM THE BARRINGTON SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE:

The Barrington School Building Committee (BSBC), Downes Construction Company, and Tecton Architects, p.c. have been hard at work all summer, preparing for Stage II of its Necessity of School Construction application for the Rhode Island Department of Education - RIDE and a community vote to authorize funding for school construction projects in November. This fall, as the application deadline and bond referendum approach, the Committee will continue sharing regular updates on its activities and progress.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! 🍏 Educators across the District, including our own Sowams School staff, are back for the new year and eagerly await the first day of school on August 28.

🍎 BPS EDUCATORS START THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR:

Today, August 24, marks opening day of the 2023-2024 school year for Barrington Public Schools!

Superintendent Messore and the Barrington School Committee kicked off the District's new school year this morning with a welcome address at Barrington Middle School. BPS educators also heard from speaker, Jayne Ellspermann, author of The Fundamental 5 Revisited: Exceptional Instruction in Every Setting.

We are so excited for the first day of school on Monday, August 28. This is sure to be an incredible school year!

⏰KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION:

The 2023-2024 school year is quickly approaching and we are excited to welcome new kindergarten students to our Barrington Public Schools learning communities this fall!

If your child will turn 5 years old on or before September 1 and you plan for them to attend Barrington Public Schools during the 2023-2024 school year, registration and screening are required summer enrollment steps. Kindergarten registration is ongoing and screening will take place at Nayatt School, Primrose Hill Elementary School, and Sowams School beginning next week.

Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year, is a time for spiritual introspection and self-examination. It begins tonight at sundown and ends on Sunday night, September 17. This Jewish holiday is a time for families and communities to come together to practice repentance, renewal, and revitalization.

The first night of Rosh Hashanah ushers in a 10-day period of High Holy Days, the most important season in the Jewish calendar.
