Naperville North Athletics

Naperville North Athletics joins the Huskie community in remembering two longtime members of our school’s history, Bill Petersen and Stan Gruszka, who recently passed away within days of one another.

Bill Petersen was part of Naperville North from the beginning, joining NNHS during its inaugural year in 1970. He served North as a math teacher, sophomore boys basketball coach, math team coach, and proud Huskie until his retirement in 2003. Bill was also inducted into the Naperville North Athletic Hall of Fame for his contributions to our athletic program.

Stan Gruszka served as Naperville North’s Head Wrestling Coach from 1977 to 1990 and built a remarkable legacy with three DVC championships, five Regional championships, three Sectional championships, and a second-place finish at the 1987 Dual Team State Championship. He also coached football and track, served students in Naperville for 34 years, and was inducted into the NNHS Hall of Fame, the Illinois Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame, and the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame.

Both Bill and Stan left a lasting impact on Naperville North through their teaching, coaching, leadership, and commitment to students.

Once a Huskie, always a Huskie.

Our thoughts are with their families, friends, former students, and former athletes.

Made it to Huntley for the Lacrosse Sectional Championship. The Huskies started fast and battled but fell short against the host Red Raiders.

This team had an outstanding season, with a DVC Championship and a deep postseason run. Proud of our Huskies.

Thank you to our seniors for everything you have given to Huskie Lacrosse and Naperville North Athletics.

The Huskies are off to a strong start in Charleston with good performances in the Shot Put, Discus, and 4x100 Relay.

🎾 Good start at the IHSA State Finals for Huskie Boys Tennis!

Noah and Aayush picked up a huge first round win today at Conant HS along with and Joshie and Kush at Barrington with Yanson and Ritvik in the backdraw. Huskies continue battling across multiple sites throughout the northern suburbs.
