New design classes this year means new ways for students in grade 11, grade 12, and PG to create!

Applied Mechanical Engineering & Design Thinking: Students will explore core mechanical engineering principles, including forces, structures, mechanisms, energy systems, and materials, through hands-on design challenges.

Digital Design: Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of graphic design and develop their visual communication skills and learn to think critically about composition, color, balance, and typography.

Textile Design: Students will learn how to use a sewing pattern to assemble a garment, and they will explore fiber and textile processes ranging from weaving, fabric printing, batik, embroidery, and needle felting.

Upper School History Faculty member Mrs. Hughes is making the most of her mini sabbatical! So far, she has explored Devils Tower in Wyoming, Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, and Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Next up: Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse Memorial!

This journey is helping Mrs. Hughes deepen her appreciation for our national parks to enhance her curriculum for the America's National Parks class.
