βοΈ First day of Summers at Salem is in the books! βοΈ
Our campers kicked off the summer with a day full of creativity, exploration, and fun!
Our younger campers enjoyed outdoor play in the mud kitchen, splashing at the water table, and blowing bubbles with friends. They also learned about the artist Picasso and created their own unique Picasso-inspired masterpieces! π¨
Upstairs, our older campers focused on teamwork and cooperation through fun team-building activities, including potato sack races and collaborative block-building challenges. They also created beautiful handprint art on hanging canvas to commemorate the start of an exciting summer together. ποΈπ
We canβt wait to see what adventures the rest of the summer has in store!

Today was our preschool all-school picnic at Beese Park! Even with the chilly spring weather, the Salem community came out to spend time together. Friends played on the playground, enjoyed outdoor games, had their faces painted, flew a kite through the windy afternoon and enjoyed a visit from the Salem gem fairy π§
It was so special seeing our school community together making memories, laughing, and enjoying time with one another. ππͺπ·

This past Sunday we celebrated the 12 graduates of Salem Methodist Preschool!π
Watching these children learn, grow, and gain confidence has been such a blessing. Some of our students have been with us since they were just 2 years old, and now theyβre heading off to kindergarten!
We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and the friendships theyβve made along the way. While we are sad to see them go, we know they are ready for their next big adventure. π
Wishing our graduates so much happiness and success as they begin this exciting new chapter!

Rainy days can still be full of fun and imagination! βπ
Today our preschoolers got to play in their brand new homemade car wash made from recycled wood and cardboard. We added pool noodles inside and painted bubbly βsoapβ all around to bring it to life. The children drove their bikes and cars through the car wash and had so much fun pretending, creating, and exploring together.
Hands-on imaginative play like this encourages creativity, social skills, problem solving, and teamwork β all while having a blast! π«§π§½π²

This week was full of special visitors and hands-on learning for our preschoolers! π’πΆ
Students met Shelley the desert tortoise and learned the differences between turtles and tortoises, including what they eat and the environments they need to survive. The children loved observing Shelley up close and asking so many thoughtful questions!
We also welcomed Oliver the Therapy Dog from Oliverβs most important job is sharing hugs, cuddles, comfort, and smiles wherever he goes. Our students enjoyed spending time with him and learning how therapy dogs help support people in the community.
Experiences like these help children build empathy, curiosity, and a love for learning through real-life connections. πβ¨

Our 3βs and 4βs spent the a few weeks exploring all things weather! After reading Little Cloud by Eric Carle, students created smash art clouds and used their imaginations to discover shapes and pictures in their clouds. βοΈ
Hands-on learning filled our classrooms as students used tangible objects to create math equations, spelled weather words with playdoh, explored more and less by measuring raindrops in graduated cylinders, and painted with puffy paint. π§οΈπ
Both classes also loved the rain cloud experiment β such a fun and exciting way to see weather science in action! βοΈπ
