Graham Crackers with Grands! ❤️🍪 🐻

For two special mornings, we welcomed our wonderful Salem grandparents to school for one of our most beloved traditions. There’s something so special about seeing generations come together in our community, sharing smiles, stories, and graham crackers!

Graham Crackers with Grands is a cherished Salem tradition, and we are so grateful to our grandparents for helping us keep it going year after year. What a wonderful way to celebrate the special bond between our students and their grandparents! 🥰

🎨 Celebrating What Makes Us Unique! 🌈

This week, our classrooms explored diversity, individuality, and all the wonderful things that make each of us unique and special! 💕

Our students learned that while we may have things in common, we are all wonderfully different. They graphed their favorite colors, eye colors, hair colors, favorite ice cream flavors, and more! 📊🍦

They also created “All About Me” collages and practiced making self-portraits, taking a closer look at their own unique features—our hair, eyes, skin tones, smiles, and all the little details that make us us! 🖍️🖼️

Through art, conversation, and hands-on activities, we’re helping our children celebrate themselves and each other while learning that differences are something to appreciate and embrace. 🌎💛

There is only one YOU—and that’s what makes you so special! ✨

🌈 More First Day Adventures! 🌈

Another first day was filled with exploring, creating, and discovering! We played with colorful scarves, took a little visit to the flower shop, and transformed a simple cardboard box into what is now officially known as “Our Rainbow Box”! 🌈📦

And you may be wondering…what’s up with the cardboard boxes, tape, scissors, and markers?! 🤔

A LOT of learning! ✂️🖍️📦

Those simple materials are fantastic for building fine motor skills—the little muscles in the hands and fingers that children need for everyday tasks and future school skills.

✨ Cutting with scissors strengthens hand muscles and develops hand-eye coordination.
✨ Coloring and drawing helps build pencil control and coordination.
✨ Pulling and tearing tape works those tiny finger muscles and develops hand strength.
✨ Taping, decorating, and creating encourage bilateral coordination—using both hands together.
✨ And, of course, creating with an open-ended box encourages creativity, imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork!

So yes…sometimes the best learning materials aren’t fancy toys at all. Sometimes they’re just a box, some tape, scissors, and markers—and a whole lot of imagination! 💕🌈

🎉 First day of preschool: CHECK! ✅

What a fun-filled day of playing, exploring, getting messy, and making new friends! 🥰 From pretend play and making music 🎶 to discovering nature 🌿, whipping up masterpieces in the mud kitchen 🪣, and digging in the sandbox 🏖️—we kept those little hands and big imaginations busy!

So many smiles, so much fun, and just a little bit of mud! 😄💦

Day one was a BIG success! Here’s to many more adventures, giggles, and memories! 💛🌈✨

🏡✨ Welcome Back, Families! ✨🏡

We loved welcoming our families back today for our Open House! 💛

The kids had so much fun meeting their teachers, playing in their classrooms, exploring our sensory room, and visiting the playground. 🧸🎨🛝

There are lots of exciting new upgrades around our school, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy them throughout the year!

And of course, our guinea pigs were right there watching and waiting patiently for their favorite little friends to arrive. 🐹💕

What a wonderful way to kick off a new school year! We’re so excited for all the learning, laughter, friendships, and memories ahead. 📚🌟

✨Taking block building outside expands the learning environment, allowing our students to engage in large-scale construction combined cardboard boxes, milk crates and loose parts found in nature—such as mud, sticks, rocks, pinecones, and water. So excited for our new playground platform which will naturally shift the focus toward higher energy collaboration, heavy work, and deeper problem solving skills ✨
