Trow & Holden Company has been manufacturing stone cutting tools for both the industrial and art markets for over 120 years.

Trow & Holden Company has been manufacturing fine stone working tools including chisels, hammers, splitting tools and pneumatic hammers since 1890. Most chisels come in a wide variety of blade widths and are available in carbide or steel tips. We manufacture over 35 different types of stone hammers, many available in both carbide and steel. We invented the first pneumatic carving hammer in 1890. S

Winter's in full swing here in Vermont, and things are finally starting to slow down a bit. If you've got tools that could use a little bit of TLC, this is a great time to send them in for some maintenance. We'll regrind them to touch up the cutting edges and offer you tips to help keep them in shape throughout the season. You can give us a call first or just send your tools in - but make sure you include your contact information in the box so we know where they came from!

It's been quite a week here in Barre! The 2024 Stonework Symposium is in town, and we've had many world-class stone artists stop by the shop to share their work and geek out over our tools. The Symposium will close out tomorrow with the Lithic Olympics, coinciding with the annual Granite Festival at the Vermont Granite Museum. The weather looks perfect, and it should be a great day for celebrating the history of stone and the people who turn it into art. If you're in the area, please stop by the Vermont Granite Museum between 10 AM and 4 PM to check it out!
