We'd love to hear yours. ❤️

Maybe it's a prayer your family always said, Sunday mass followed by breakfast, a favorite feast day tradition, praying before meals, an Advent tradition... or something completely unique to your family.

What Faith tradition from your childhood have you carried into your own?

Some Sundays, everyone is attentive at Mass.
And some Sundays…well…everyone made it to Mass. 😄

Both count.

Keep showing up.

Our children don't need a perfect example of Catholic family life.
They need to see that Jesus matters enough for us to keep coming back.

One Sunday at a time. ❤️

Sometime today, maybe at dinner, in the car or getting ready for bed, ask this question:

"Where did you see God today?"
----------------
In our family, we did the Spin the Knife. Whoever it pointed to had the opportunity to tell:
1. Their high moment of the day
2. Their low moment of the day
3. Their God moment of the day

It doesn't have to be profound. You're simply creating a little space in an ordinary day for your Family to recognize that God is already there.

Building your Domestic Church doesn't always require a big plan.

Sometimes it starts with one good question.

Look at this crowd. Nearly 3,000 people—hungry for Jesus.

This is why we do what we do at The Domestic Church Initiative.

Because the faith celebrated in a gathering like this has to continue when we go home—around our dinner tables, in our marriages, with our children, in our prayer, and in the ordinary mess of family life.

The Eucharist strengthens us.

And then we take Jesus home. ❤️

The Domestic Church begins there.

So… where do we go from here? 👀

The name may be new, but the mission continues. ❤️

The Domestic Church Initiative exists to encourage and equip parents to make the Catholic faith part of everyday FAMILY life — through PRAYER, FORGIVENESS, the Eucharist, and the ordinary moments that happen at home.

We want to share practical ideas for family prayer, encouragement for parents, stories from our own family, lessons we've learned along the way, and more about family retreats — something that has been very close to our hearts for many years.

We certainly don't have all the answers. We've just spent a lot of years raising a family, learning, laughing, making mistakes, praying, forgiving, and trying again.

The Domestic Church isn't built in a day.
It's built in the everyday.

Follow along. We're just getting started. ❤️

As our children were growing up we would bless them with the sign of the cross on their foreheads and say: "remember who you are". And their response was: "a Child of God".

This simple blessing began with Kay's mom as she was growing up.

Now, our children do this with their own children.

What is one faith tradition from your childhood that you still remember?

Over 25 years ago, 4 families went away for a weekend together to play and pray.

What developed was a blueprint for our family retreat.

The glamorous side of ministry...

*No one posts pictures of the unpacking. 😂

Tonight's agenda: sort the brochures, unpack the bags, put everything away, and find the dining room table again.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us this weekend. We're excited about what's ahead for The Domestic Church Initiative.

Our hearts are full...and our house is a disaster.

The Springfield -Cape Girardeau Diocese Eucharistic Congress was so great!

Our 2 sessions were received with overwhelming praise...one was standing room only!

We met so many people throughout this diocese that want to bring us to their parishes.

Plus, Bishop Conley from Lincoln, NE was so gracious as was Scott Hahn.

And of course, the Man, the Myth, the Legend: Bishop Rice 😎

At the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese Eucharistic Congress with 3000 people!

Prayers for us are so appreciated during 1pm-3pm when we will be speaking at 2 sessions.

And God bless this Diocese as they celebrate their 70th anniversary.
