Welcome to Carrie Brown, who will be staying with us as a Kindergarten Teacher in the Fall! You may recognize Mrs. Brown as being part of our school team already. She joined us as an interim teacher when Mrs. Sluder went out on maternity leave in December. Mrs. Brown was so good, we couldn't let her leave! Here is a little about Mrs. Brown - I am from the small community of Alexander, North Carolina about 10 minutes from Weaverville. I am a North Buncombe graduate and I attended North Buncombe Elementary. I graduated from Appalachian State University (Go ASU!) in May 2012 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I love: the color green, reading as often as I can, Autumn, hiking on the parkway, watching my nephew play sports (baseball and basketball), living in the mountains and spending my day with 5-6 year old children!

Welcome to Kylie Peek who will be joining the BES team in the Fall as a First Grade Teacher! Here is a little about Mrs. Peek -
My teaching career began at North Buncombe Elementary, where I completed my student teaching in 1st grade. When I completed my student teaching, I immediately transferred to Haw Creek to fill an interim position in kindergarten. The next year, I moved up to 1st grade and taught 1st graders for 8 years! This past year, I taught 3rd grade.

I graduated from UNC-Asheville with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a K-6 teaching licensure. While in college I had the opportunity to work in schools in New York City, New Orleans, Washington, and Memphis. In addition, I studied abroad at Cambridge University in England and worked at schools in the area. In 2010, I completed a Master's Degree in Education from Montreat College and earned National Board Certification.
