Big camp day today! Very proud of the effort these band students gave! 8 hours under the sun in total, lots of work done on the opener to get caught up on the week we were forced inside! 3 weeks until the first competition, lots of progress made and lots to go!

Super excited to have our drill writer Matt Bristow on the field with us this afternoon! We’ve never had a drill writer on the field helping to teach their own drill. Such a great experience for the students! Thanks to Matt for coming out from Owensboro!

Band camp day one was a success! Pictures from our game of the day: keep away keepy uppy! Hold the balloon in one hand, swat others’ balloon with the other. Last person standing wins for their section. Very entertaining! Here’s to day 2!

A few snap shots from earlier this week during our Guard and Percussion camp! The students and staff worked really hard and accomplished so much!

We also had 2 great evening visual rehearsals with the brass and woodwinds (not pictured). 2026 Ballard Memorial Marching Band is shaping up to be an incredible group! Full band camp with everyone starts Monday - can’t wait!

Please join me in welcoming our new Color Guard Instructor: Lynniah Vandry!

Lynniah is a Paducah native. She graduated from McCracken County High School and currently attends SEMO where she is studying to receive her Bachelor in Music Education degree. She has served as a color guard captain of both the SEMO Pride of the Heartland Marching Band and Heartland Independent Winterguard.

Her experience as an oboe player, front ensemble performer, and color guard member in various ensembles make her an exciting addition to our team! Welcome to the Bomber Band Family!

2026 Graduation: ✅ (5/15/26)

Wonderful celebration of the class of 2026 last night! Each of these seniors are special to me because when I started at Ballard, they were halfway through their 7th grade year. They are the last group of students that were in the first marching show I ever taught back in 2021. They have excelled in all facets of music: Honor bands, Marching band, Jazz band, Solo & Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Assessment, and many in choir!

Another incredible accomplishment on their part is 3 out of 5 of the Salutatorian/Valedictorians were band seniors! They gave polished speeches and were honoring to the people they cared for.

They have all been a driving force into creating the culture of excellence that the Bomber Band has been fostering over the last 5 years. They have made a significant impact on our school, our band, and me.

Senior band members: thank you for your time, energy, effort, and joy that you have given to the Ballard band program. You will be missed, but I know you will continue to make significant impact wherever you choose to go!

Thank you for giving me the honor of being your band director, and I hope you can look back on your time at BMHS with a Halcyon Heart. 💚

Mr. Case

Chayton Gorostiza (valedictorian), Jolan Gorostiza (valedictorian), Izaak Mathis (salutatorian), Gavin Dowdy, Ethan Olmeda, Brady Slayden, Alex Hammonds, Jacey Sanders, Clayton Powell, Jacob Wilkins

*Thank you to the various sources of pictures: Travis Holder, Maria Dowdy, and possibly others I'm forgetting.

2026 Spring Concert:✅

This past Thursday April 30th was the 2026 Ballard County Bands Spring Concert! Ensembles included 6th Grade Band, HS Saxophone Quartet, 7/8th Grade Band, HS Percussion Ensemble, HS Jazz Band, Solo & Ensemble Jazz Band, HS Band, and 7-12 Mega Band.

You can see the program attached for all the music that was performed, as well as the students who were recognized for their accomplishments for the 25-26 school year!

I am incredibly proud of the students for putting on such a great concert and rising to the challenge on so many different levels.

I focus on growth and discuss this with the students, so here are a few examples of growth from this concert:
-HS Band performing a grade 4 for the first time, especially with it being a Sousa march!
-Percussion ensemble playing a piece with 4 bass drum split parts and multiple traded solos between the flatline
-7/8 Grade Band performing on a grade 2 with the HS Band after staying in grade 1 land all year, and doing it well!
-Jazz band performing solos that were improv instead of completely written out, and sounding confident!
-6th grade band playing full length songs and sticking together even when a key piece of the puzzle was missing.

There are even more things to celebrate, but I know the community is so proud of these kids, and their growth is inspiring!

To the seniors: I pray your last Spring Concert was memorable and enjoyable. I know that I will always remember and enjoy the memories that we have made together over the last 5 1/2 years! More to come later...💚

Thank you to all who came out to support the Ballard County Bands!
