I'm always delighted when Lilliput strikes and wraps her f/t rat. Being the only one who came to me as a live-feeder, it took me the better part of a year of dancing dead rats around on dental floss and parading them around the enclosure with forceps to get her to eat f/t rats regularly. Even then, she mostly just kind of slithers on over to the rat and unceremoniously picks it up and starts swallowing. But every now and then, I see the fierce hunter than lives in her little python heart 💚

About venom...

☠️ Venom potency isn't measured by how scary a reptile looks. It's measured in a lab — and the results are genuinely terrifying.
The Inland Taipan sits at the very top — widely regarded as the most venomous snake in the world based on lab testing, with venom significantly more toxic than any tested sea snake. A single bite contains enough toxin to kill approximately 100 human adults.
The King Cobra doesn't top the list by raw toxicity — but it doesn't need to. It delivers enough venom in a single bite to kill an elephant, or roughly 20 adult humans. Volume over potency.
The Boomslang is considered the most seriously venomous rear-fanged snake in the world — capable of opening its jaw a full 180 degrees to deliver a bite most snakes simply can't.
And the Gila Monster rounds out the list as the only venomous lizard native to the United States — proof that venom isn't exclusive to snakes at all.
Here's the twist — there are zero confirmed human deaths from the Inland Taipan ever recorded, simply because it lives in such remote parts of the Australian outback that it almost never encounters people. The deadliest venom on Earth, and it's barely ever used. 🐍

I got a little creative with Lilliput's substrate change, adding some Eco Earth in some places and Forest Floor in others. So, what does she do? She spends the next 48 hours on top of the hides, climbing branch, anything to keep from touching the substrate-is-now-lava floor. To her credit, she did eventually make peace with the situation. Then she ate a rat and is tucked soundly inside her favorite hide. All is forgiven.
