🇺🇸 Help Us Honor Our Heroes! 🇺🇸

This Veterans Day, our Fusion Center for Advanced Math & Science students are turning gratitude into action! ❤️🤍💙

Fusion is partnering with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to create a beautiful Field of Flags at the UP Center, honoring the brave men and women who have served our country.

⭐ Just $5 sponsors one American flag, representing one veteran and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.

Flags will be displayed outside the UP Center during the week of November 9 in recognition of Veterans Day.

🇺🇸 Help us fill the field with gratitude, honor, and pride!

🏗️ HELP US BUILD THE NEXT GENERATION!

BuildUP Field Day 2026 is coming November 6 & 7 — and we’re looking for community and industry partners to help bring it to life!
We’re inviting businesses, tradespeople, contractors, organizations, and industry partners to host a hands-on station that gives students and families the chance to experience the world of construction firsthand.

🔨 Your challenge: Create an interactive experience that gets participants doing, building, operating, solving, or creating while introducing them to your industry and the careers within it.

📍 Bloomfield Middle School | Bloomfield, KY
📅 Friday, Nov. 6: Middle & High School Student Rotations
📅 Saturday, Nov. 7: Family & Community Day

Ready to build with us?
👉 Scan the QR code on the flyer to sign up to lead a station! (or access the link in the comments!)

We’ll be sharing more information for students and families soon — for now, we’re calling on our partners to help us create an unforgettable experience. 🏗️💪

🩸❤️ CCMA Blood Drive Success! ❤️🩸

We are so proud of our CCMA students for helping make yesterday’s blood drive at the Nelson County UP Center, hosted through the Kentucky Blood Center, a huge success!

Our goal was to collect 18 pints of blood—and we did it! 🎉 18 pints collected!

That means our students and community members came together to help make a real difference in the lives of others.

Even more exciting, about half of our CCMA class was able to donate blood themselves! 🙌 And those who were unable—or simply not eligible—to donate still played an important role by promoting the blood drive and encouraging others to participate. Every effort helped!

We couldn’t be more proud of our future healthcare professionals. They’re already learning that caring for others goes far beyond the classroom—and they’re making an impact right here in our local communities. 🩺❤️

Congratulations, CCMA students, on reaching your goal and helping save lives! 🩸👏

🏥What an incredible day for our Nelson County Pulse Healthcare Year 1 students!
A huge THANK YOU to the McDowell House Museum and Apothecary for hosting our students today! We had an amazing time exploring the historic buildings of Danville and learning more about the fascinating history of healthcare. 🩺

🏛️ Did you know that on Christmas Day in 1809, Dr. Ephraim McDowell performed a groundbreaking surgery that would become a landmark in the history of medicine? A woman, believed to be carrying twins, traveled 60 miles on horseback to the home of Kentucky physician Ephraim McDowell. Without the benefit of anesthesia, Dr. McDowell opened her abdomen and successfully removed a 22½-pound ovarian tumor! 😳

Talk about a story that brings healthcare history to life!

📸 Parents & families—be sure to ask your student what’s happening in these pictures! Have them tell you what they learned today and explain the incredible story behind Dr. McDowell and this historic medical procedure.

And, of course, no field trip is complete without some good food and fellowship! 😁 We had a great time at Cracker Barrel, enjoying time together, getting to know one another, and building relationships within our Pulse Healthcare program.

We are so proud of these students and the curiosity, enthusiasm, and teamwork they continue to bring to Pulse Healthcare! 💙🩺

Thank you again to the McDowell House Museum for helping make today such a memorable learning experience!

🩺 Hands-On Learning in Action! 🩺

Our CCMA students are putting their skills to work by performing vital signs on their peers! 💪✨
From perfecting manual blood pressures and heart rates to accurately measuring temperatures, respiratory rates, weights, and heights, our students are gaining the hands-on practice and confidence needed to provide exceptional patient care.
It’s all about learning by doing, building precision, and mastering the fundamentals—one vital sign at a time! 👏🩺

Way to go, future medical assistants! We’re so proud of your dedication and progress! ❤️

🩺 Real Patients. Real Scenarios. Real-World CCMA Skills.

Today, our CCMA students took their Patient Interview skills to the next level with LIVE patient volunteers! 👏

Some patients were friendly and easy to interview. Others were a little more challenging… and a few truly made our students work for it! 😂

Our amazing patient volunteers came prepared, creating detailed backstories and alternate personas for their roles in today’s skill check-off. This gave our students a first-hand opportunity to practice the skills they’ll need every day in the healthcare setting, including:

🗣️ Conducting effective patient interviews

🧘‍♀️ De-escalating challenging patient interactions

🧠 Communicating with patients experiencing mental health challenges

👀 Maintaining professional facial expressions and body language

🤝 Practicing empathy, professionalism, and nonjudgmental communication

🔐 Learning how to respond appropriately when patients share deeply personal or unexpected information

And yes… some of those stories definitely tested our students’ ability to keep a straight face! 😳😂

These experiences are about so much more than checking off a skill. They’re about preparing our future medical assistants for the real people, real emotions, and real-life situations they will encounter in healthcare.

We are so proud of the way our students stepped outside their comfort zones, adapted to each unique patient, and continued to demonstrate professionalism throughout the experience!

Great job, future CCMAs! You’re learning that sometimes the most valuable clinical lessons happen when things don’t go exactly as planned. ❤️🩺

Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to our volunteer patients from Nelson County Schools & CommonSpirit Bardstown!
