Today, we celebrated an important milestone and to honor someone who has made a lasting impact on all of us. While it was difficult to say goodbye, it's also a wonderful opportunity to recognize and thank Mrs. Christy for her years of dedication, leadership, and service.

Mrs. Christy throughout your career, you've been more than just a manager. You've been a mentor, a guide, and an inspiration to many of us. Your commitment, professionalism, and ability to lead by example has helped shape not only this program but also the people who have had the privilege of working with you.

You have faced challenges with determination, celebrated successes with humility, and always encouraged your team to do their best. Your door was always open, your advice was always thoughtful, and your support never went unnoticed.

Beyond the accomplishments and achievements, what many of us will remember most is the positive influence you've had on our daily lives. You've built relationships, fostered teamwork, and created an environment where people felt valued and respected.

As you begin this exciting new chapter, we hope you take pride in everything you've accomplished. Retirement is not the end of a journey—it's the beginning of a new one filled with opportunities, adventures, relaxation, and time spent doing the things you love most.

On June 19, 1865—more than two years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation—the enslaved people of Texas first learned of their freedom. That day became a day of remembrance and celebration that changed and grew from year to year.

Learn about the events that led to emancipation and why it took so long for the enslaved people in Texas to hear the news. The first Juneteenth began as “Jubilee Day,” where families celebrated and learned of their new rights as citizens. As Black Texans moved to other parts of the country, they brought their traditions along with them, and Juneteenth continued to grow and develop.

Today, Juneteenth’s powerful spirit has endured through the centuries to become an official holiday in the United States in 2021. The Juneteenth Story provides an accessible introduction for kids to learn about this important American holiday.
