Appalachian Heritage Day was such a special day for our students and staff! We are extremely thankful for Keith Bowling at Walker Park for hosting one of GR’s favorite annual trips. We enjoyed Appalachian music and instruments, storytelling by our own former Cougar, Lisa Yeager, native animals, quilting history and display from Mrs. Faye Elliot, butter-making with Donna Roark-Knox County Conservation Office, and some yummy biscuits to try it on from our fabulous lunchroom staff, long r***e shooting, and a visit from Thomas Walker that included a tour of Kentucky’s first cabin. We have enjoyed the best day with our students before beginning our Fall Break! Special thanks to the KCMS Leadership Team for being team leaders for our younger students and Ed Frazier for allowing them to be a part of our day. A huge thank you to our hard-working staff for making today go so smoothly, and for all of the volunteers for their time to help create memories that will last a lifetime.

Happy Custodian Appreciation Day to the three! They work hard each day to keep our school healthy and safe for our students and staff! They deserve to be appreciated each day but we hope they enjoyed their day, yesterday!

🍂🎃 WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEXT WEEK? 🎃🍂

Our students had one very important question to ask around G.R. Hampton… “What are you doing next week?” 🤔😂

The answer? Enjoying FALL BREAK! 🍁🙌

We hope all of our Cougar families have a safe, relaxing, and FUN Fall Break! ❤️💙 Take some time to rest, make memories, and enjoy the beautiful fall season.

📚 We’ll see everyone back at school on Monday, October 12!

And that's a wrap on Pioneer Week in Mrs. Amanda's Preschool Class! 🤎🍎🪵

What an incredible week it's been! I have a feeling a lot of little preschoolers are going to sleep extra good tonight after all the fun we've packed into this week... and I might too! 🤭❤️

Today was the perfect way to end our Pioneer Week celebration. I absolutely loved seeing all of our little pioneers and Native Americans dressed up this morning—it made my teacher heart so happy! 🥹🤍

We even got to visit Miss Hope's preschool class to watch an exciting apple volcano erupt! 🌋🍎 We practiced our safety drills, rolled up our sleeves to make homemade apple pies, enjoyed cupcakes together, and ended our afternoon cuddled up watching Pocahontas. It was the sweetest way to celebrate a week spent learning about pioneers, Appalachian heritage, and the history of Kentucky.

A huge congratulations to this week's Cougar P.A.W. winner! 🐾 We are so proud of the kindness, responsibility, and great choices you show every day.

Thank you to all of our amazing families for helping make this week so special. These are the moments our Cougar Cubs will remember long after preschool, and I feel so blessed to be a small part of making those memories. ❤️🍎
