Baraboo Swing Dance

re experienced swing dance partners, if they would be willing to teach a class if she found a studio. In May 2023 they taught their first class at Purple Lotus Studios! Since then, the need for a larger studio brought them to the beautiful space of the Tin Roof Dairy and later, the Great Day building, downtown Baraboo. About your instructors:
Pavel Michalek
Pavel learned to swing dance as a member of Swing Wings in the country of Czech Republic where he was born and raised. Both as a student and at times teacher, he became proficient in Lindy Hop and Air Steps. Both skills, he later on taught his wife, Marie, who came to share a love for the hobby. Having played drums, he also has an advantage for feeling rhythm which helps elevate his understanding of swing. Some of his other interests/hobbies include Muay Thai (Thai boxing), Kali (Filipino martial art), and PC gaming. Marie Homolkova-Michalek:
Marie was first introduced to the basics of Swing dancing in college, however it wasn’t until she met her now husband, Pavel, that she not only realized she had much to learn, but also fell in love with it. While in the Czech Republic, she joined Pavel in Airsteps and Lindy Hop training at Swing Wings. They have been happily dancing together since 2016. Besides her love for dance, Marie also enjoys Kali (Filipino martial art), hiking, painting murals and portraiture, chess, hackey-sack, hanging out with her sister, Alzy, and volunteering at the zoo.
