Sorry if I’ve missed you the last couple of weeks. My schedule became erratic due to my daughter who is due 9/22 (scheduled c-section). She has had multiple dr appts a week and I need to watch my grandson. If you are looking for open studio hours, please call in advance and I will be happy to accommodate you if I can. So sorry and I will get back on track after my new granddaughter arrives!!

In the meantime, I have new paint kits that are grab and go! $5 for a 5x7 canvas with just paints, or grab my specialized kits with everything you need. Lots of cute designs!

Hope everyone is enjoying the last little bit of summer and that the kids are happy seeing their friends.

A week full of fun and creativity at The Drawing Room! 🎨✨

We kicked off the week with a wonderful group of ladies who painted adorable ladybugs on sunflowers. They definitely knew how to keep the atmosphere fun and full of laughter!

Next came my collaboration with Joe Nitti at Mountain Hugger where we painted one of Joe’s photographs! It’s always a great time!

Later in the week, another group of ladies took on a winter-themed painting featuring sweet chickadees. This creative group embraced the challenge and each one put their own unique spin on the painting!

We wrapped up the week on Sunday with a sweet birthday celebration! 🎂🦄 The birthday girl chose a unicorn craft (while the boys made horses!) and added face painting to make the day extra special.

In between these events, we welcomed guests for Open Studio. Some enjoyed painting on canvas, while others got creative with ceramics. There’s always something fun to make at The Drawing Room!

We had a great time at Mountain Hugger painting one of Joe’s photographs!

One of my favorite things about teaching is hearing all the comments

“I can’t paint”

“I don’t have an artistic bone”

“I can’t draw a straight line”

“ I’ll never be able to paint that”

And then something happens, in the time we share. The negativity goes away, they start having fun, and their creativity comes out.

This time was no exception!

What a wonderfully busy weekend at The Drawing Room! 🎨💛 And honestly, I couldn’t be more thankful for every family, celebration, and special moment I get to be a part of!

We kicked off the weekend with a sweet family who joined me for Open Paint on a rainy Friday! 🌧️🎨 The kids had a blast choosing and painting their own ceramic pieces, while Mom and Dad got to enjoy some painting fun of their own. Once the kiddos finished their masterpieces, they had a great time exploring the sensory table while Mom and Dad were able to relax and finish their paintings.

There’s just something so special about watching families slow down, create together, laugh, and make memories. I’m so grateful that The Drawing Room can be a place where families can spend an afternoon being creative and enjoying time together—especially on those rainy days when you’re looking for something fun to do! ❤️

Then, I had the absolute pleasure of helping a very special lady celebrate her 23rd birthday! 🥳🎉 We took the painting party outside and enjoyed some beautiful views while creating our masterpieces. This group was incredibly talented, so much fun, and such a joy to paint with! I’m truly thankful they chose The Drawing Room to be part of such a special birthday celebration. It means so much to me when people invite me into these important moments and allow me to help make their celebrations a little more creative and memorable. 💕

What an incredible night of Fun, Creativity , Learning and Laughter

Our very first Sip & Paint at “The Gathering Room “inside Mountain Hugger Co. in downtown Banner Elk was a SOLD OUT success!

Under the wonderful instruction of Susan Paunovic, everyone created their own beautiful mountain scene inspired by one of my landscape photographs. The talent, creativity, laughter, and enthusiasm in the room were absolutely amazing. It was incredible to watch each person put their own unique style into the painting.

Even more special than the artwork was what happened around the tables. New friendships were made, old acquaintances were reunited, and our community came together for an evening of creativity, conversation, and fun.

This is exactly why I created The Gathering Room. My vision has always been to have a place where people can gather, learn, create, meet new friends, support local artists, and continue making our wonderful community even stronger.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, to our outstanding instructor Susan Paunovic, and to her assistant for helping make our very first event such an overwhelming success.

Because of the excitement and incredible response, I’m happy to announce our next Sip & Paint will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 6:00 PM.
