From Sierra Tran (Ford):
It’s with a broken heart I share our classmate Michael Crawshaw is no longer with us. For the last 6 days I’ve been trying to find the right words to share this, but I’ve come to the realization that those words will never come. No one prepares you for the loss of someone so pivotal to your life story, like your first love or your best friend, and how it will rock your world. Nor how to share it on a platform like this. However, I know many in our class had a special relationship with Mike, and feel it is important to share. He was kind, fun, smart, and had a sensitive soul who loved his family and friends dearly. He loved hard. Those who really knew him also knew he was a sarcastic butt.
Last night I had the honor of attending his celebration of life. It was a beautiful celebration decked out in his favorite sports team (go Broncos), along with his favorite food, and most importantly so many people who loved him.
Please feel free to share any stories or photos, of Mike, you may have. I’d love to pass along to his mother, his brother, and his best friend (our lovely Nick Mac).
Grief is hard…and I’ve been down the rabbit hole of old music and quotes this week. This was one that really spoke to me:
“You don’t move on after loss, but you move with. You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer comfort. She is not the monster you thought her to be. She is love. And she will walk with you now, peacefully. If you let her. And on the days, when anger is high, remember why she came, remember who she represents. Remember. Grief came to you, my friend, because love came first. Love…came first.” - Unknown
