Dear Banks School District Community,

Today on Wednesday, at the end of the school day, a student reported feeling ill after drinking water from one of our High School drinking fountains. The student reported that the water appeared cloudy, sediment was visible, and the water had a strange taste.

The District is taking this report seriously and is in the process of having the water tested by professional technicians. Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily closing all High School drinking fountains while testing is completed. Bottled water will be made available to students and staff during this time.

We are also coordinating with the City of Banks and our construction contractors to make sure that our water supply is safe and checking all of the work on our site that could impact this water supply.

We will share the results of the water testing with our community as soon as they are available.

Please reach out and let us know if you or your student noticed any symptoms or illness after drinking water at the school today.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Jacob Pence
BHS Principal
