Thank you once again to Versant Power for your recent donation to Literacy Volunteers of Bangor.

Versant has a "Power Partner Program" which allows their staff to volunteer and fundraise for local non-profits. Carolina Rave is an LVB board member and an employee of Versant who recently earned 40 hours of volunteer time valued at $800. She donated it all back to LVB where she already contributes significant amounts of her time.

A beautiful tutor-student story worth sharing!

LVB volunteer tutor, Kay Allcroft, meets with students Tom and Vy twice a week to help them learn English and prepare for their citizenship tests. Kay’s birthday was this past week, and her students surprised her with gifts and birthday wishes!

Please join us in welcoming Benedicte “Benny” Chubaka as LVB’s new Student Services Coordinator!

Benny comes to us from Iowa’s Bureau of Refugee Services and holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Health and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs.

“I am passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and capable, especially those facing barriers due to language differences, educational gaps, and life circumstances. I look forward to using my experiences to advance LVB's mission," offers Benny.

Help Literacy Volunteers earn between $5-10K annually through Community Auctions Program.

A volunteer is needed to set up displays (like this one) with local vendors and then monitor them weekly, starting in mid August. Training is provided.
