We’re proud to share that John Bapst has once again been awarded the Platinum Award by the College Board for our students' AP participation and success. This is the third year in a row we’ve received this honor, each year since the award's inception. This significant achievement places John Bapst in the top 2% of schools in Maine (only one other school in the state received a Platinum designation) and the top 8% of schools in the U.S. and Canada.

While this distinction is a tremendous source of pride for our dedicated faculty and administration, who diligently cultivate our strong academic environment daily, it is, above all, a powerful testament to the commitment of our extraordinary students. Thank you for showing up each day to challenge yourself, to make the most of your high school experience, and to build a strong foundation for future success. Great work, Crusaders!

Welcome to Bapst, Dr. Maxwell! 💜

The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Sally Maxwell as the next Head of School of John Bapst Memorial High School, effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Maxwell brings more than three decades of experience in education, beginning in public education in 1994 and later moving into independent school leadership. Throughout her career, she has held senior roles focused on teaching and learning, faculty development, and academic program design at mission-driven, college-preparatory schools.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Maxwell shared, “John Bapst is a gem of a school in a gem of a city. It’s the best of all worlds—rigorous and kind, locally rooted and internationally inclusive, and independently run and publicly accessible. I am honored to join the John Bapst community and collaborate with the Board, faculty, staff, students, and families as we honor the school’s strengths and advance its mission into its second century.”

Tomorrow is our inaugural Crusader Day! Please consider making a donation!

Tomorrow marks John Bapst's inaugural Crusader Day, a day of giving in support of our annual fund, featuring several fun and engaging activities. Coach O will ascend to the school roof via the small ladder at the top of the staircase and he’ll be staying there until at least $21,000 is raised, symbolizing $1,000 for each year he’s been coaching football. Friends, family, and former players can help him descend sooner by contributing to the annual fund. Additionally, after school, eight faculty members have bravely agreed to enter a dunk tank. Students will be lining up for a shot to make their favorite teacher take the plunge. Additionally, during lunchtime, the student senate will host seven food trucks in front of the school. These activities highlight the unique spirit of John Bapst and that’s what we’ll be celebrating tomorrow on Crusader Day. Congratulations to our very own Mr. Richmond! Quite an accomplishment!

John Bapst is thrilled to share that Instrumental Music instructor, Mr. Ben Richmond, is a national finalist for the American Prize in Conducting (Youth Orchestra Division). This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the other finalists are from significantly larger areas like Houston and San Diego. Mr. Richmond's recognition is well-deserved and anyone familiar with his work already knows that he is truly one of the nation's finest conductors. Bravo, Mr. Richmond!

🚨HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE STUDENTS🚨

This is a weekday afternoon dishwashing position. Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm. We have a commercial dishwasher so you’re really just rinsing dishes off into the sink and loading them into the dishwasher. Once they are clean, you put them away. Roughly 15 hours per week.

This job includes discounted employee meals while at work and earned paid time off. Experience is not necessary as long as there is a willingness to learn. Pay starts at $16/hr.
