We had tons of fun learning from breakout sessions and Redtalks, visiting the expo, getting inspired from the STAR Event showcase, trading buttons, and more!

Join us for Mac Madness & Bingo Night on Friday, March 27th 5:30-8:30pm in the BHS Commons.

Anyone can compete, anyone can taste, and anyone can win big from Bingo! All prizes have been donated by a number of amazing, local sponsors.

Competitors receive one free meal ticket with a valid sign up. All other participants are $10 at the gate for a bottomless bowl and one bingo card. Additional cards can be purchased for 25 cents each.

Doors open at 5:30pm, bingo starts at 6:30pm.

This semester, Julianne completed an FCCLA STAR Event project called National Programs in Action focused on teaching Financial Fitness to 4th grade students. Over the semester, the project taught three main lessons: earning, give/save/spend, and budgeting, all through hands-on activities, written work, and real-world simulation games. 

Students earned classroom “money” by doing homework and classroom jobs, then practiced decision-making during monthly auctions. This encouraged students to think about spending wisely, saving intentionally, and planning ahead.

The project ended with a banquet to celebrate their achievements, students earned certificates recognizing their completion of the financial fitness journey. Seeing their enthusiasm and progression really showed the importance of introducing financial education at an early age.

This STAR Event project reflects that learning about financial fitness not only teaches good money management but also builds responsibility, confidence, and decision-making skills.

This week, I met with high school students who are members of the Wisconsin Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) during their annual Capitol day. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect, discuss what they are learning, and answer questions about the state government.
