Sunday started with Tyler, Sam, and Maddie having made it to final rounds for their respective events. The other students were in great spirits and went and supported their teammates during finals rounds.

Now we know that we are heading back to Des Moines for Nationals this year! I am so proud to announce the following kids will be competing for a national title this June:

*Tyler has qualified in Humerous Interpretation! In his final round all three judges ranked Tyler in first place - we call this a picket fence and it is really incredible when it happens!

*Maddie has qualified in Original Oratory! This makes Maddie a 4 year National Qualifier, having made it every year of her high school career. This is a very special honor for students to achieve.

*Maya has been invited to compete in supplementals at Nationals. While she didn't qualify in her mainstage event, as co-team captain she can come compete in additional events.

We aren't quite done yet. Next Saturday we have one student competing in online Congressional Debate, so we might have more news then!

Plus, districts for state is one month away!

9 of the Bandon Speech and Debate team are at our National Qualifier in Medford this weekend. They'll compete against 89 other students for a chance to attend Nationals in Des Moines this June. Day 1 has come to an end, and as you can see they are all in good spirits and feeling strong about how they did today.
