"It is a limitation we must learn to accept... Until I realized that it is the struggle itself that is the most important. We must strive to be more than we are. It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards." - Data, Star Trek Next Generation, Season 3, Episode 16.

When you close one door, another door opens...

The next three weeks are the last few I'll be teaching Monday 8:30pm Community Hot Vinyasa in Federal Hill.

I have taught this class for 3 years, 1 month, and 3 weeks, and I have seen so many amazing people go on to become CCY/YW members, greeters, teachers, college graduates, doctors, parents, etc. It has truly been an honor, and a blessing to share this gift of yoga. My students have taught me so so much and I look forward to continue sharing this gift other nights of the week ;)

What does it take to ground and breathe with a clear mind when the world is completely upside down? Join us in a two hour exploration of our bodies, breaths, and minds in a practice of headstand, forearm stand, and handstand with all the tips and tricks you need. Whether you are learning to balance in headstand away from the wall, or press into a full handstand, this workshop is for you.

Together we will explore:
- headstand, forearm stand, and headstand with the support of blocks, straps, and the wall
- anatomical neutral and spacial body awareness
- in depth physical postures and drills to prepare our bodies to invert

Expand beyond your perceived limitations and practice full embodiment - inverted or not! Practiced beginner and intermediate students are welcome.

Taylor Owen, RYT-500, believes the use of breath and alignment of the body are keys to unlock the doors of tension and withholding that shield us from our inner intelligence and limitless potential. Inversions are a test of our connection of our selves to the earth and our conscious awareness of our bodies in space.

How to Move Forward Once You’ve Hit Bottom 10/12/2016

"It isn’t that the waves stop coming; it’s that because you train in holding the rawness of vulnerability in your heart, the waves just appear to be getting smaller and smaller, and they don’t knock you over anymore.

“Fail better” means you begin to have the ability to hold what I call “the rawness of vulnerability” in your heart.

So what I’m saying is: fail. Then fail again, and then maybe you start to work with some of the things I’m saying. And when it happens again, when things don’t work out, you fail better. In other words, you are able to work with the feeling of failure instead of shoving it under the rug, blaming it on somebody else, coming up with a negative self-image—all of those futile strategies."

How to Move Forward Once You’ve Hit Bottom Pema Chodron tells the story of when, having hit rock bottom, she asked her teacher what to do.

I think this is especially true when it comes to information on le...
