✨ New Release from Textshop Editions ✨

We’re thrilled to announce the publication of You Can’t Talk This Way and Other Stories by Danuta Borchardt — marking the return of Textshop Experiments, with more announcements coming in 2026.

This bold collection of 27 inventive short stories blends the surreal with the starkly real. Borchardt’s tales move from the shadows of Soviet rule to the vast deserts of America, weaving together absurdity, contradiction, and truth. Whether whimsical, darkly humorous, or deeply poignant, these stories invite readers to reflect on the unexpected and the universal alike.

📖 “On the borderland of Polish and South American surrealism yet grounded on American soil,” (Russell Banks) Borchardt’s writing defies conventions while opening doors to new ways of seeing.

Danuta Borchardt is a retired psychiatrist and celebrated translator of Polish literature, best known for her award-winning English translations of Witold Gombrowicz’s novels, including Ferdydurke (Yale, 2000), Cosmos (Yale, 2005), Pornografia (Grove, 2009), and Trans-Atlantyk (Yale 2014).

➡️ Discover You Can’t Talk This Way and Other Stories today — a vibrant, thought-provoking addition to contemporary literary fiction.
