CURE Scholars are getting hands-on with STEM as early as MIDDLE SCHOOL!
The UMB CURE Scholars Program was the first program of its kind to bring middle school students into the National Cancer Institute’s CURE pipeline—giving young Baltimore students opportunities to explore biomedical research, health care, and STEM careers while they’re still in middle school!
And it doesn't stop there! Scholars experience hands-on science, anatomy, coding, robotics, biomedical research, career exploration, mentorship, and summer enrichment as they progress through the program.
That’s more than learning STEM… THAT’S BUILDING THE FUTURE!

Did you know… a single lightning bolt can heat the air around it to about 50,000°F?!
That’s roughly 5 times hotter than the surface of the Sun!
When lightning strikes, the extreme heat causes the surrounding air to expand rapidly, and that explosive expansion creates the BOOM we know as thunder!

STEM WONDER WEDNESDAY!
Have you ever wondered why airplanes can fly when they're SO heavy?
It all comes down to STEM! Engineers use physics, mathematics, and aerodynamics to design wings that create lift, the force that helps keep an airplane soaring through the sky.
