September is a busy time of year for many of us, with a new school year beginning, new routines to settle into, and new challenges to tackle. With my own children transitioning into their school year, combined with a time when I am gearing up to teach a course, one theme continues to be top of mind for me: empowerment.
Beyond just learning, just hitting the next milestone and simply attending our lives, how are we ensuring that those we teach and guide are connecting to their paths on a deeper level, seeing a place for themselves and building courage, competence and confidence? How are we showcasing how the lessons and the days of instruction can lead to a pathway of impact? How are we helping our learners to craft their own stories of their journeys and empower them to take the next steps beyond the classroom, in a way that brings meaning to their lives? How do we help others (and ourselves) to take those leaps that can initially feel scary and unknown?
