Juliacks is an artist that develops fictions across mediums including but not limited to books, films, performances, paintings, comics, and immersive installations. Her book, Architecture of an Atom was published by 2dcloud, taking her on a tour including museums (MoMA PS1,) book stores, and a series of lectures and workshops at art schools and universities. This past year she taught at six universities and art schools in the United States and had a solo show at the University of Oklahoma.
Juliacks' works have exhibited, screened and performed at museums (MoMA PS1, Moderna, MAC-Lyon, Centre-Geneva, Kiasma) galleries (Silberkuppe, Essex Flowers, Salon de Montrouge) film and comics festivals (Cineglobe, Zinebi, Crack, Antimatter, Cine-Rebis) and alternative art spaces (Néon, Atomic Centre, GrrrndZero) in North America and Europe. Her books and editions are published by the Moderna Museum, the Musee d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, Sparkplug Comics and 2dcloud. Her films are distributed by Video Pool. A recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship, and the ENSBA-Lyon, Néon, LA BOX, De Ateliers residencies and grants, Juliacks received a 2016 Fellowship for Painting from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts .
Recent works that Juliacks will be talking about are the Transversal Scepters project. Transversal Scepters crosses time by using criminal archives and technologies from the 17th and 21st century in the Netherlands and North America as touchstones to hallucinate [imagine so vividly as if to believe it is true] alternative futures.
Juliacks will be hosting a Transversal Scepters | Union Market Performance Feast on this Thursday at 7 PM, at the project, Finding a Line, located at the Union Market, in Washington DC.
The performance feast is open to the public, all are welcome. This event will feature words and contributions from students, faculty, local community makers and historians as we eat, engage and discuss the transitional site of the Union Market.
Finding A Line, is an ongoing community-sourced initiative that partners cultural makers, institutions and agencies with similar missions for collective impact. The project hosts weekly sessions that combine skating, music, and media as a socially-engaged platform for a variety of actions, collaborations, and research. This project is hosted by Gallaudet University, premiere education for the hearing impaired.
