What happens when a Montessori school and an affordable housing initiative share the same bold vision for community?
In Salt Lake City, Pinyon Montessori is showing what is possible.
Founding Teacher Leaders Margaret, Brandi, and Chip knew they wanted a downtown school rooted in access, diversity, and authentic Montessori education. That vision came to life through a powerful partnership with GIV Group and its Perpetual Housing Fund â the team behind Arbor 515, a former office tower transformed into 96 affordable apartments where families can build stability, equity, and long-term financial health.
When Pinyon connected with GIV through a former parent, it felt like a perfect match. âWe were looking for them, and they were looking for us,â Brandi said. GIVâs commitment to affordability and community empowerment mirrored Pinyonâs vision for accessible, high-quality education. As part of this collaboration, Pinyon and GIV created a flexible rent-for-tuition agreement that enables some GIV families to attend the school â and together, they are exploring evolving scholarship pathways to expand access even further.
Pinyon Montessori is a model for how education and housing can work hand in hand to strengthen community, opportunity, and belonging.
