Last week, IMET hosted Common Waters: Aligning Science and Community for a Sustainable Harbor. This brought together scientists, community members, and harbor stewards. When the people doing the research and the people living closest to the water are in the same room, something shifts. Real questions get asked and real connections get made. That is what a sustainable harbor looks like in practice. Thank you to everyone who joined Common Waters and continues to show up for Baltimore's waterways!

A special thanks to Clarissa Mathews and Roshni Nair-Gonzalez for a seamless event!

The Potomac River sewage emergency may be officially “over,” but scientists say the damage isn’t. Over 240 million gallons of raw sewage poured into the river in January and researchers are still finding contamination months later.

Read more here:

Sewage Spill Is Over, But Contamination Lingers In Potomac Though river monitoring shows bacteria levels have declined, scientists and environmentalists said a full recovery isn’t yet assured.
