MESSAGE FROM WHS FOUNDATION PRESIDENT, MONIQUE COX
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved Sandra Wighton, Principal of Western High School from 1979-1994. Mrs. Wighton led Western with a quiet strength that was respected and admired by all.

As one of her students, I found her to be the epitome of her favorite phrase Quiet Dignity. Sandra Wighton was a calming force for teenaged girls trying to find themselves. With high expectations and the posture of a peacock, Mrs. Wighton often reminded us that confidence did not require being loud and obnoxious but it means to walk with a calm confidence that changes the atmosphere when you walk in a room. It means to exhibit the self-respect, self-esteem, and graceful character that turns heads and shows that we are “Only the Best!”

You would often see her walk the halls, place her finger over her lips saying, “Quiet Dignity” ladies. We never wanted to disappoint her! From her example, we learned to face challenging situations with a grace that sets the tone and confuses those who are frantic around us. We entered Western as girls trying to find our way and left as young women ready and capable of taking on the world!

And years later we still reminisce of the lessons she taught us. Thank you Mrs. Wighton for your guidance, your commitment, your love, your service, and for living out Quiet Dignity.

Please look out for additional information as we plan a tribute to honor Mrs. Wighton's precious legacy.

JUNE 1 KICKOFF -DOVES FLYING IN FORMATION!!!
Western Doves have always understood the power of moving together. Just like doves flying in formation, each class, each alumna, and each supporter plays a role in lifting our legacy higher and ensuring future generations know the rich history of Western High School.

The WHS Foundation Archives Campaign is more than fundraising, it’s about preserving our stories, memories, traditions, photographs, achievements, and sisterhood for generations to come!

No matter the amount, every contribution helps preserve Western’s historical archives and keeps our legacy alive. Let’s show the strength of the Dove sisterhood by coming together with purpose and pride.
