Senior photography major, Oreoluwa Akinyode, has a show in the The Gateway Building, Gallery 1, titled "Baptized Devotion". The opening reception is this coming Friday March 7, 2025 at 4:30PM. The show runs from March 1- 21st. Please come by to see the show!

Q***ring Appalachia’s Visual History: A collection of Q***r Appalachian Photographers is a forthcoming publication from The University of Kentucky Press, edited by Julie Rae Powers.
This call is for photographers/image makers who are from, currently reside in, or have lived in Appalachia and identify as q***r (LGBTQIA+) to submit work to be in this book. Individuals who submit work should have a connection to and/or understanding of Appalachia. Appalachia is a place without borders or true definition so a loose guide is listed below.
You may submit:
Up to 10 images
An essay/paper or pitch for an essay/paper
or both.
If submitting images the content of the image does not need to be about Appalachia or Q***rness. It may be about any subject and in any style of photography.
If submitting a paper or essay, please limit submissions to writings about art and Appalachia, photography and Appalachia, or personal essays involving experience and photographic practice in regards to the region. There is no word or page limit to essay/paper submissions. If you have an idea for a paper/essay to include that has yet to be written, please pitch the idea in the appropriate section.
Accepted individuals will receive a one time small payment ($25.00) and a free copy of the publication. Estimated release date Fall 2023 or Fall 2024.
Submission Deadline: November 14th, 2021.
