EMAILED TO PARENTS OF BALTIMORE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS:
CHANGES TO K-8 WEDNESDAY SCHEDULES
Beginning this month, all K-8 schools will begin to transition to âSmall Group Wednesdays.â These are school days with modified schedules that give students more time to complete assignments, continue online intervention efforts, meet independently with teachers, or participate in additional wholeness activities and clubs. Also, teachers will receive time for additional lesson planning and professional development to improve teaching and instruction.
Please wait for communication from your childâs school that details when the Small Group Wednesdays will begin. Again, you will receive correspondence from your childâs school about when the Small Group Wednesday initiative will start at their school and any modifications to student schedules. All students must attend all classes/programs in their schedule on Wednesdays, and attendance will be recorded.
To be clear, students will continue their regular schedules for all other days.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work together to provide all students with the best learning experience possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school.

CITY SCHOOLS POSTPONES THE START OF IN-PERSON ATHLETICS
Baltimore City Public Schools has postponed the start of all in-person athletics activities until further notice, including in-person conditioning, practice, and competition.
This decision was made in close consultation with Baltimore City's Health Department and a careful examination of the potential risks associated with in-person athletics. While the district is eager to see our student-athletes return to play as soon as possible, our priority is to protect their health and safety.
We know that the relationships that student-athletes have with their coaches and teammates are often central to their social and emotional well-being and academic success. We will continue to work with our school-based athletic departments and community partners to support on-going virtual engagement with student-athletes and coaches by promoting a sense of community, positive character, sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and academic excellence.
Families and students should reach out to their schools for more information on support tools available through the athletic department.
