Congratulations to all of the graduates! We were able to catch up with Kenea today at the graduation ceremony.
A Shout Out to one of our Graduates! Lauren Arroyo is graduating with her Associate of Arts Degree in Dance. Lauren has had a deep relationship with dance since early childhood. Long before receiving formal training, she danced independently and understood movement as one of her most natural forms of expression. Completing the dance program gave structure, technique, language, and community to something that had already been central to her life for many years.
Lauren’s background in education and psychology also shaped the way she experienced the program. She came into formal dance training with an interest in how people learn, heal, express themselves, and reconnect with the body. Through the program, she began to see more clearly how dance can support somatic awareness, emotional processing, and a deeper relationship with the self.
For Lauren, dance is not centered on performance alone. It is a way of understanding the body, culture, identity, and human connection. Her studies helped her bring together her lifelong movement practice with her academic background and her interest in healing-centered work.
Lauren will continue traveling to different countries to learn traditional and social dances and to better understand what movement reveals about culture, community, history, and Indigenous forms of healing. She plans to continue exploring dance as both a personal practice and a way of connecting more deeply with others across cultures.
A Shout Out to one of our Spring Graduates: Kenea Dorsey is graduating with an Associate of Fine Arts: Dance degree this Spring from CCBC. She previously trained at Jump Move Dance from 2018 to 2020, where she began developing her foundation and passion for movement. This past semester, Kenea has been enjoying the opportunity to make new friends while continuing to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer. Her experience in the Dance Program and with the CCBC Dance Company has allowed her to grow both artistically and personally. Kenea plans to transfer to UMBC to continue her studies and pursue a BA in Dance. You can follow her on social media at
