Today, we honor Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. As a community committed to Love in Action, we remember that freedom is not just a moment in history, but a call to build a world where every person can thrive.

From choosing Saint Julie Billiart as her confirmation saint at age 13 to building a career serving young women, Gabriella Herrera’s journey came full circle after serving with NDMV.
Through Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, she discovered her calling at the Cornelia Connelly Center growing from teaching fellow to educator and now School Operations & Support Coordinator. Her story is a powerful reminder that service can open the door to purpose.

Whether you're serving close to home or somewhere brand new, you come to realize things about the communities you serve that you did not know before. Sometimes what you learn is the importance and power of community itself.
