As the Coordinator of the C-ESL Program at Baltimore City Community College, I often share my own story with our students — the story of arriving in the U.S. as an immigrant in 1999 and what my first years looked like as I learned, struggled, adapted, and built a new life.
Many students told me that my journey inspired them. As an educator, I value every service and opportunity provided to immigrants around the world — because I am one of them. I know what it means to feel lost, hopeful, overwhelmed, and determined all at once.
Working with the migrant population in Baltimore City has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. Our students bring strength, resilience, and courage into every classroom, and it’s an honor to support them.
I’m proud that Baltimore City Community College continues to open doors and create pathways for our community. And now, we are getting ready to launch our 2026 workforce training cohorts through our IET/IELCE programs — expanding opportunities for even more learners to build skills, confidence, and brighter futures.
