Greetings from MICA PLACE, 814 North Collington Avenue! Check out what we’ve done so far and what we’re up to next!

We are a diverse group of artists interested in building partnerships in East Baltimore and other Baltimore City communities through art. We are excited and grateful to participate in community events and work in collaboration with our neighbors. Our goal is to foster sustainable relationships throughout East Baltimore and beyond by supporting community based projects. Over the past few months we have helped to organize holiday celebrations, workshops and various community events.

Philadelphia’s Board of Education is set to vote on the district’s master facilities plan which includes the closure of 17 schools. The meeting is at 4 p.m. It was delayed a week as elected officials criticized the process as being “rushed” This morning, 10 out of the 17 city council members rallied at one of those schools - Paul Robeson HS in University City. They said they would do all they could to prevent the school closures. That includes potentially taking legal action and preventing board members from being reappointed if they vote to approve the plan. They also encouraged students and community members to protest at the meeting to shut the vote down. The district stands by its 10-year $3 billion plan that would close and merge some schools and modernize many more.
