Meet the Heart Behind Dayspring.

Every great organization starts with people who believe they can make a difference.

In 1982, Dayspring, Inc. was founded by Dr. Linda Gorham and Mr. James Gorham with a simple but powerful vision: to ensure that children and youth in Baltimore have access to the educational opportunities, support, and encouragement they need to succeed.

More than four decades later, that vision continues to guide everything we do.

From our S.M.A.R.T. Afterschool Program to our BRIDGES Program for Teen Girls to our summer and weekend enrichment opportunities, our mission has always been the same: to empower young people through education, inspire confidence, and help shape the next generation of leaders.

Dayspring's BRIDGES Program is designed to help middle and high school girls develop the confidence, leadership skills, and resilience they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Through mentorship, literacy enrichment, life skills, and meaningful relationships with caring adults, participants discover their own strengths while preparing for college, careers, and leadership opportunities.

When we invest in young women, we invest in stronger families, stronger communities, and a brighter future for everyone.

Leadership begins with believing in yourself. Sometimes all it takes is someone willing to believe in you first.

The newest Bridges Program session is now enrolling for middle and high school girls at the Visions for Education Resource Center. Through positive mentorship, hands-on learning, leadership development, and professional skill-building, young women gain the confidence and tools they need to succeed in school, in their communities, and in their future careers. The program includes caring female mentors, creative workshops, a weekly book club, free lunch, and more. Enrollment is limited to just 20 participants, and sessions are held on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

At Dayspring, we believe every young woman deserves the opportunity to discover her potential. As a Baltimore nonprofit dedicated to promoting positive academic and developmental growth for children and youth, we're proud to invest in the next generation of leaders.

That is exactly what happens every day in Dayspring's S.M.A.R.T. Afterschool Program.

S.M.A.R.T. stands for Science, Math, Art, Research, and Technology, bringing together subjects that encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and hands-on exploration.

Students don't just complete homework. They build, create, experiment, discover, and develop the confidence to tackle new challenges.

By making STEM education engaging and accessible, Dayspring is helping prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists, educators, and innovators right here in Baltimore.
