Rose Hill

This is a very historical place in Charles County which goes back to the American Revolutionary War. It was once home to George Washington’s friend and doctor.
During the Civil War, it was home to Olivia Floyd. She was a huge Southern Sympathizer and also acted as a spy for the Confederates. She would obtain intelligence on troop movements etc and pass them to confederates who would come by via boat at the river at bottom of her property. She would light a lantern to signal the Confederates when they had a package to pick up.
She is buried at Chapel Point (photos below ) overlooking the Potomac River.
She lays at rest next to her brother who was a confederate.
Note: Their graves look new only because of the efforts of Dennis and Barbara Spears. They took the time to clean the headstones and help revitalize the location. Both Dennis and Barbara spend much time going to other Confederate grave locations in both Maryland and Virginia to clean the headstones and help preserve the grave sites at many neglected locations.

Our new linen business cards. Of Course we had to ad some symbology to them. We used the evil forbidden secession color of red & white(outlawed in Baltimore in 1861). Also the trademark "Maryland, My Maryland" (poem that was set to tune by the Monument Street Girls) on back.
