Yesterday evening, the Most Reverend William Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, celebrated our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit.

We also welcomed the Most Reverend Douglas Lucia, Bishop of Syracuse and a member of our Board of Trustees, for the celebration.

During the Mass, Fr. Shawn Gould, P.S.S., was formally installed by Archbishop Lori as the new President-Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary & University.

As we begin this new year of formation, please keep Fr. Gould, our faculty and staff, and all of our seminarians in your prayers!

Today, our new seminarians traveled to various locations throughout Baltimore for Sulpician History Day!

They learned about the Society of St. Sulpice, its early beginnings in the United States, the history of St. Mary’s Seminary and University, and the Sulpician tradition of priestly formation.

This Wednesday, St. Mary’s Seminary and University welcomed 18 new seminarians as they began their orientation to seminary life here at SMSU!

Fr. Shawn Gould, P.S.S., celebrated a welcoming Mass—his first as the new President-Rector of St. Mary’s!

Our returning seminarians will arrive on August 30th and will begin the new academic year with a retreat, taking time to pray, reflect, and prepare for the year ahead.

Please keep all of our seminarians, both new and returning, in your prayers as they begin another year of formation!
