It’s your ID. It’s your library card. It’s your key. It’s your wallet. It’s your J-Card.

The J-Card gets you into residence halls, the library, academic buildings, and other campus facilities. It’s also as good as cash: You can store money on your J-Card and use it to do laundry, make copies, and buy food and other items on and off campus.

You will receive your J-Card at move-in.

Move-in day is almost here 🎉

In just a few weeks, Summer at Hopkins students will arrive on the Homewood campus and begin an unforgettable summer experience.

Here’s what residential students need to know before arrival:

✅ Check in at McCoy Hall between 2–4 p.m. ET on your assigned move-in day

✅ Bring a photo ID and make sure you've completed all required forms and orientation modules

✅ You'll receive your J-Card, residence hall access card, room key, and meal access at check-in

✅ After settling in, you'll meet your Residential Counselors, enjoy dinner with your residential group, and attend a mandatory orientation

Traveling from BWI Airport or Penn Station? Complimentary student shuttles are available on move-in day for students who reserved a spot in advance.

Accepted to Summer at Hopkins? Your summer adventure is almost here!

Before you arrive on Homewood campus, make sure you've completed a few important steps:

✅ Submit your Offer Response Form and initial tuition payment to secure your spot
✅ Activate your JHED ID and Hopkins email account
✅ Upload your J-Card photo through myJH
✅ Complete the required online Summer at Hopkins Orientation in Canvas
✅ Review housing, travel, packing, and campus policies
✅ Pay any remaining account balance before your program begins
✅ Residential students: plan to attend the required Welcome Session on move-in day

You'll also find helpful information about residence hall living, student support resources, technical support, course access, transcripts, and more.

Canvas courses become available on the Sunday before your program begins, so keep an eye on your Johns Hopkins University email for important updates.
