Let's give it up for Gretchen Barstad '22! Gretchen, a senior majoring in elementary and secondary education at York College of Pennsylvania, was named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Softball Senior Scholar-Athlete in recognition of her strong academic achievements and athletic prowess. Gretchen is a pitcher and infielder on the Spartan Women's Softball Team, helping lead York to a Commonwealth title and an NCAA softball postseason berth. This season, Gretchen concluded her Spartan career with her third career appearance on the MAC All-Commonwealth squad. She was named Honorable Mention, hitting .326 this season, leading the Spartans in walks (26) and stolen bases (16). Gretchen had 15 RBIs and held a 1.000 fielding percentage at first base with 173 chances. Recognized as an elite offensive threat, Gretchen was the conference leader in both hits and runs during the 2024 season. Her consistent performance has earned her national and regional acclaim, including Second-Team and Third-Team NFCA All-Region honors. She is also a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection. Gretchen was a member of the Mercy Magic softball team and is a graduate of the Catherine McAuley Honors Program. Congratulations, Gretchen!

This morning, Mercy Girls in grades 9, 10, and 11 gathered to celebrate the end of our school year with a prayer service led by Ms. Becky Egan Hogg P’27, ’30, director of campus ministry! Our Mercy Girls reflected on this year’s theme—Connect—including ways to continue prayerful reflection throughout the summer. The service ended with a game of Mercy-themed trivia involving a giveaway! Thank you for a wonderful year, girls! Onto exams!
