We have four spots left of our shaker-style table class this Saturday! Note ⬆️ these photos ⬆️ are from when instructor Sarah Marriage taught this same class at Woodcraft in Timonium. This will be the FIRST time this is offered at WOO, and we are so excited!

This is a TWO SESSION IN-PERSON CLASS.

In this class, students will build a solid wood side table with the clean, classic look of Shaker design—using modern tools and beginner-friendly techniques. We’ll use the Festool Domino for joinery and a tapering jig on the table saw to shape the legs. Students will glue up their own tabletops and learn how to attach them in a way that allows for natural wood movement. This is a great project for building confidence with furniture-making basics while creating a beautiful and functional piece.

Class Schedule:

Saturday March 21: 2pm-6pm (SESSION 1)

Saturday March 28: 2pm-6pm (SESSION 2)

All skill levels welcome. No prerequisites.

WOO is a non-profit safe space for training underrepresented genders in our field. As such, enrollment is limited to non-binary, trans, and woman-identifying folks over the age of 18.

Thank You for Helping Us Surpass Our Goal!

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to your incredible generosity and the Holt & Bugbee Foundation's matching pledge, we raised a total of $30,506—far exceeding our $20,000 goal!

Holt & Bugbee committed to matching up to $12,000 in donations, and our community stepped up—contributing over $10,000 in just one week. Impressed by the outpouring of support, Holt & Bugbee honored the full $12,000 match.

This funding comes at a pivotal moment. Our longtime fiscal sponsor, Fusion Partnerships, is closing its doors. We are deeply grateful for the 8 years of support we received from Fusion—they believed in WOO from the very beginning and have continued to guide us through this offboarding process with care and encouragement.

As we transition to become our own independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donations are helping us move forward with confidence—securing our lease, insurance, and everything else we need to keep WOO strong and growing.

And if you'd like to continue supporting WOO, it's never too late. Every dollar helps us improve our woodshop, strengthen our programming, and build long-term stability for our organization and our community.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

See you at the woodshop!

Everyone, we have incredible fundraising news. And we will be sharing it soon. But first we wanted to pop in and tell you a little bit about why we've been quiet in the days following our amazing fundraising:

On Sunday evening WOO's own started teaching a lightning speed 4-day tambour class , with WOO board member and instructor .nse assisting!

Here we are posing with a couple of our students' cabinet glue-ups (including Shalon's!).

Thank you to for inviting us! We had a wonderful class full of complexity, creativity, and community.

We are exhausted and inspired and on our way back to Baltimore. ❤️

Jointer maintenance day! Making progress as we get the new woodshop running at its full capacity and nicely tuned up.

Image descriptions:

1) Overhead view of WOO volunteer cleaning a jointer helical cutter head, with the carbide inserts and machine screws organized on paper towel, awaiting reinstallation.

2) WOO volunteer standing behind a jointer, holding the impact driver that helped loosen a few of the stuck screws.
