Ignatius Loyola Academy was founded in 1993 to address a critical need for quality education for children of diverse races, ethnicities and religions from at-risk neighborhoods in Baltimore. Enrollment in the Academy is determined by a variety of factors including financial need, a demonstrated desire to succeed, and residence in Baltimore. The Academy is an 11 month school year program with an ex

tended school day (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM). Academy graduates attend competitive college preparatory high schools in Baltimore and the mid-Atlantic region. Our signature Graduate Support Program assists students with high school admissions and follows them through high school and into college with resources to guide their continued success.

• 98% of St. Ignatius Loyola Academy graduates receive a high school diploma, as compared to the rate of 64% for males in Baltimore City
• 88% of Academy graduates matriculate at post-secondary educational institutions
• 100% of the students at the Academy qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Meal program
• Only 30 students are admitted each year to the incoming 5th grade class
• Class sizes are small, ranging from 12-15 students per class

Since the Academy's first eighth-grade graduating class in 1996, students have progressed to attend outstanding college preparatory high schools, including Gilman School, Loyola Blakefield, McDonogh School, Calvert Hall College High School, Boys' Latin School, Mt. Joseph's High School, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Baltimore City College, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, St. Paul's School and Georgetown Preparatory School. Academy graduates have attended many outstanding institutions, including Loyola University Maryland, Boston College, Morgan State University, Oberlin College, Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, Morehouse College, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Naval Academy. Ignatius Loyola Academy is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of Maryland and DC (AIMS) and a member of the Jesuit School Network.
