Dear Friend of Unchained Talent,
On behalf of Unchained Talent's Board of Directors, I am writing to inform you that Unchained Talent has decided to dissolve its nonprofit status.
The organization's leadership met, discussed the assets, liability, demand for and energy available to carry the organization forward, and decided it was time to close the doors. Our decision resulted from the schools' focus on testing and other priority enrichment areas, the funding climate, and the change in the personal lives of the organization's leadership.
It was a difficult decision but it was the right one at this time. However, I am humbled that we have done so much good during our time together.
Over the past twelve years, Unchained Talent was an important means to connection, voice and empowerment that will live on in each of us. The youth voices heard, the relationships formed, the staff who grew, the curriculum developed, the ideas spoken, the art created, and the lives changed (mine especially), are all tangible outcomes of our twelve years of work. Each moment was important. Each person was important. Each memory was important. Each show was important. Each relationship was important. And those do not change. They do not go away.
Each of you are on this list because you have had an instrumental relationship to Unchained Talent's success. Perhaps you are a student, a parent, a volunteer, a donor, a partner, a supporter from far away. Over the years, each of you have touched the organization and helped it to achieve its mission. Your support has meant the world to me and our young people. We thank you sincerely.
Unchained Talent was one step in a lifetime of striving for better. One step in a lifetime of connecting around our shared future. One step in creating honest relationships for the betterment of each of us. I look forward to connecting with you again, in another place, in another venue, but with the same heart and love that brought us together in the first place.
Sincerely and in peace,
Chris Youngston Gray
