2020 Spring Housekeeping. 2018-2019 were pretty definitive years that were fresh on decodeme.space website, but did not cross-post to the official page. (Privacy settings fail.)

2019 graced us with two workshops with The Baltimore Museum of Art Open Hours museum program and their new Lexington Market branch. These workshops refreshed our format as installation art pop-ups. To say they’ve generated new interest would be an understatement.

2018 brought us Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts Free Fall Funding for a workshop with Balti Virtual, a social media marketing workshop with MSU- Office of Student Life & Development Morgan State University, and Code in the Schools Snapchat Filter workshop for the Girls In Computer Science Summit.

Thank you, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland for inviting Decode Me Space to "Girls Steam Ahead" and for beautifully capturing our gamification wire-framing workshop. This event presented a broad array of entry points to STEAM careers. It was inspiring to connect with impassioned professionals and future leaders.

Mentors: Koli Tengella and Malaika Aminata

We discussed active bystander strategies developed by MIT.

Strategies used in real time were explored in a group chat script writing workshop with OSI Fellow Koli Tengella and a film screening/Q & A with Malaika Aminata, visionary director of the documentary "Not About a Riot."

Strategies used after the event were explored in creating affirmation stickers to impart strength to a peer so that they could then overcome a bullying situation.

Our first session unpacked the emotions tied to a bullying situation and transformed them into emojis. We were gifted with a surprise forum discussion with Baltimore's State's Attorney, Marilyn Mosby, Esq.. She spoke on her call to serve, her leadership journey and advice for fostering confidence in young women so that they may encourage confidence in their peers. She also spoke to the importance in speaking out against injustice. After enjoying divine desserts from Biddle Street Catering, our mentor forum led an engaging discussion surrounding their leadership journey, lessons in communication strategies and advice for self advocating for mentorship. The event drew such an amazing crowd, drawing from both youth, HR directors, public works workers, attorneys and youth advocates. This led to multigenerational and dimensional conversations about the importance of emotional intelligence and communication in the workforce and to build an empathetic life and organic networks of support.
