Join the University of Baltimore School of Law on Wednesday, April 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Warnken Moot Courtroom at the John and Frances Angelos Law Center for a timely panel discussion marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Led by School of Law faculty, this conversation will examine how past and present struggles over power, justice, and the rule of law continue to shape the future of the nation. Topics will include the American experiment, the role of legal precedent, and the challenges facing liberty, equality, and democracy today.

Panelists will include Professor of Law John Bessler; Professor of Law Gilda Daniels; Michael Higginbotham, the Laurence M. Katz Professor of Law; and Mortimer Sellers, Regents Professor of the University System of Maryland. President Kurt L. Schmoke will welcome attendees, and Dean LaVonda N. Reed will offer closing remarks.

UBalt Law’s professors shape conversations at the intersection of gender and the law.

Associate Dean and Professor of Law, Margaret Johnson, joins Ayushmaan Mukherjee and Mikah Gay of the Menstrual Equity Initiative (MĚI) to discuss gender equality and menstrual justice through a legal and policy lens. She explores structural and intersectional oppression, reproductive freedom, and state constitutional law, sharing insights from her nationally recognized scholarship.

🏀 Battle of the Bar: UB Law vs. UMD Carey Law 🐝

On Sunday morning at 10 a.m., the Bees took the court at the UB Gym for the Battle of the Bar, as our SBA team faced off against UMD Carey Law in a great matchup and a fun show of law school rivalry.

Thanks to everyone who came out early to cheer on UBalt Law and support our teams!

Students stepped into clinical practice, earning the authority to represent real clients for the first time in their legal careers.

Through UBalt Law’s nationally ranked clinical program, students step into the role of advocate while still in law school, interviewing
clients, drafting pleadings, preparing applications, and appearing in court under faculty supervision.

She shared valuable insights drawn from her professional experience, offering thoughtful guidance and perspective to our community.

We mourn the passing of Howard Janet, J.D. ‘78.

Howard Janet, a lawyer with an ‘outsized personality,’ fought for clients and family Howard Janet died on Sept. 18 after complications from a heart and kidney transplant. He was 70.
