After nearly 50 years of service, Louis G. Depaola, DDS, MS, Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, will retire from UMSOD on July 1, 2026.
Since joining the school in 1977, Dr. DePaola has helped shape clinical care, advance patient safety, and mentor generations of dental professionals. His leadership, especially in infection control and during the COVID-19 pandemic, has had a lasting impact across our school and beyond.
Please join us in thanking Dr. DePaola for his decades of dedication and wishing him a wonderful retirement!

UMSOD Dean Mark A. Reynolds, DDS, PhD, MA, has been named interim provost and executive vice president at the University of Maryland Baltimore, effective Aug. 1, 2026. A proud UMB graduate and longtime leader, Dr. Reynolds is widely respected for his collaborative approach and commitment to advancing research, education, and patient care.
